Founded in June of 2024, STMT was created as a way to merge self-expression with accessibility. No two pieces are the same. When you put on a STMT design, our goal is for you to feel your most authentic, radiant self. We pride ourselves on creating garments that not only prioritize comfort, but ensure you are the brightest light in any room.
Founder Story
STMT was founded by designer Nick McVicker as a reflection of his personal journey with identity and self-discovery. Throughout his life, McVicker navigated the challenges of understanding who he was and how he wanted to exist in the world. Over time, embracing his androgyny and individuality became a powerful source of confidence and clarity. Creativity became an outlet for that exploration, allowing him to translate personal growth into something tangible.
As he began creating garments, McVicker recognized how transformative clothing could be. Designing became a way to help others feel empowered in their own identity, offering pieces that allow people to present themselves with intention and confidence. What began as a personal pursuit gradually evolved into the foundation for STMT.
Design Background
Nick McVicker is a fully self taught designer whose path into fashion began in the winter of 2022. After purchasing his first sewing machine with the simple goal of hemming his own clothing, curiosity quickly led him deeper into the craft. Through experimentation and persistence, he began teaching himself the fundamentals of garment construction.
What started as a practical skill soon turned into a creative discipline. McVicker spent countless hours studying tutorials, refining techniques, and developing his own approach to design. Through independent learning and early commissions, he built the technical foundation and creative perspective that continue to shape his work today.
